Cloud Data Architect
Do you want to work with designing our enterprise data landscape? Join us at Allente!
Join Allente as our new Cloud Data Architect!
Allente is a Nordic entertainment company offering high quality satellite TV, streaming services, IPTV solutions, and fiber broadband to more than one million customers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
Working for Allente means that you are joining a team that is devoted to providing the best TV services to its customers. Quality is our hallmark in all aspects, whether it's customer experience, available content, picture, and sound. We take our pride in delivering the best possible linear and streamed TV services via satellite (DTH) to the Nordics, as well as broadband TV in Sweden (IPTV).
We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to work with designing our enterprise data landscape. This role is central to building a scalable, modern, and sustainable data ecosystem — spanning data modeling, ingestion, transformation, and advanced analytics delivery.
You will define architectural principles, establish data standards, and design the technical foundation for a centralized cloud-based data platform that supports data operations, advanced analytics, and data science. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a strategic mindset, helping us simplify our data environment, retire legacy systems, and enable a future-ready data foundation.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Platform Design
- Define and maintain the overall data architecture blueprint for the organization, covering ingestion, storage, processing, and access layers
- Design and implement cloud data platform architectures (preferably AWS and/or GCP) that balance performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency
- Evaluate existing and recommend ETL/ELT frameworks, data integration patterns, and data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Glue, Dataflow, etc.)
- Establish principles for metadata management, data lineage, and Enterprise Data Management (MDM)
Data Modeling & Information Architecture
- Lead the creation of logical and physical data models across business domains, ensuring consistency and reusability
- Work with the team in defining data modeling standards and guide teams in implementing common vocabularies, dimensions, and naming conventions
- Collaborate with analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to help translate business requirements into robust data structures
Modernization & System Landscape
- Conduct system and data inventory to map existing data flows, dependencies, and redundancies
- Recommend and support the decommissioning of legacy systems and the migration of critical data assets to the new platform
- Contribute to future proofing the technology selection for BI, analytics, and visualization tools, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and user needs
Governance & Collaboration
- Partner with the Product Owner, Data Engineers, and Analysts to align architecture with delivery priorities
- Play an active role in the Data Governance Council and Data Modeling Group, helping define and enforce enterprise-wide standards
- Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and IT teams to ensure compliance, resilience, and appropriate data protection measures
Strategic Enablement
- Advise leadership on the development of the data platform strategy, emerging technologies, and architectural roadmaps
- Create architectural documentation and communicate complex data concepts in a clear, business-friendly way
- Serve as a thought leader in the evolution of the company’s data ecosystem
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Data Architect, Information Architect, or Senior Data Engineer in complex, data-driven environments
- Strong expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical), data warehousing, and data integration design, with hands-on experience using tools like dbt (Data Build Tool) to build modular transformations, ensure data quality, and maintain lineage.
- Deep understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data ingestion patterns, and streaming vs batch processing approaches
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, ideally GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Storage (GCS), and Cloud Composer (Airflow) for data ingestion, orchestration, and scheduling) and AWS (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3, Lambda)
- Familiarity with modern data architecture frameworks (e.g., Data Mesh, Lakehouse, Data Fabric) and data governance practices
- Experience evaluating and implementing BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, Tableau, QuickSight, etc.)
- Comfortable balancing hands-on technical work with strategic architecture and planning
Personal Attributes
- Systems thinker who sees both the big picture and the technical details
- Good communicator who can explain complex architecture concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborative mindset, working effectively across teams and disciplines
- Pragmatic and outcome-oriented — able to make architecture decisions that support delivery while guiding long-term modernization
Success in this Role
You’ll know you’re succeeding when:
- The organization is working with a clear and well-documented data architecture that supports business and analytical needs
- Legacy systems are being rationalized, with clear migration paths to modern cloud-based platforms
- Data models and ingestion frameworks are standardized, reusable, and well understood across teams
- Business users and data teams can confidently access trusted, well-structured data for decision-making
- There is a road map in place that the team can work around to successfully deliver as a unit
